Catch! @ Schiermonnikoog

Catch! is a new art event where artists are challenged to capture the infinite beauty of Schiermonnikoog in one day. This may be both the beauty of nature and of the village. Artists of various disciplines and styles applied for this. From the ideas submitted, the organisation selected more than 20 artists. These include Mieke Fokkinga (Groningen), Brenda Hauer (Schiermonnikoog), Gabrielle Kroese (Assen), Rolina Nell (Moarre) and Inbal Ann Hershtig (Groningen).

The event will take place at three locations on the island. The organisation of Catch! aims to make audiences look differently at the island by following the working processes live and engaging in dialogue with the participating artists. The art event is a pilot; if successful, it may become an annual event.

Viewing days of the created works are on 18 and 19 July at the Village Hall. The works can also be seen on Catch’s Instagram page! On Sunday afternoon 20 July, 14:30, they will be auctioned in Het Baken. Mayor Ineke van Gent will be the auctioneer this afternoon. Part of the proceeds will go towards an art project for the new school on the island.
